70s Style Chap In Order?

After watching Order last night, and laughing merrily over Ron's verbal assault on the unamed-but-I-know-it-is Zacharius Smith, the question was put to me by my girlfriend, who is the young chap with the 70s style shoulder length hair meant to be?

And it's driving me nuts, because no one I can think of quite fits the looks of that kid. Is he a 'newcomer' like Nigel, or someone who's just slipped my mind.

Any thoughts?

Ootp Is Finally Here!

Making a road trip to see OOTP as soon as I could was thoroughlly worth it, I thought. It felt like a different movie in that the music was wonderful, I see they also have a new screenplay guy and some of the camera work was just inspired.

In my humble opinion it seemed a really good take on the book - sure things were left out, as we all knew they would - but while watching OOTP I didn't pine for scenes that I knew should have/could have been there. Nor did it feel like a long movie - time swept past, but not in the dizzying, sometimes choppy way that GOF did.

Best of all, all the adult cast returned to their posts. (I've read so much about people perhaps not coming back that I was worried some of the smaller parts for this film, ie Moody, Lupin & Prof Flitwick, for example, could be cut). I was more than pleasantly surprised.

The film's pace was great, and loved the flashes. Best of all, for me, were not the action sequences, (which were great), but the protracted Trio being together sequences. Really warm.

Out of 10, i'd give it an 8, I reckon, (and hitting 9 whenever Luna was around! lol) Certainly my fav of the films. Was it me though, or were R & H a little too 'comfortable' with each other? lol If they are going to present themes present in HBP, it's going to be quite a contrast!

Those are my thoughts, anyway....what are yours? Love it? Hate it? Missed something? Changes fit?

Ootp - The Game

Hullo. Not too sure where I should've put this tiny titbit of info, but this seemed as good a place as any....


Just began playing the new game - always nice to suspend reality and pretend you too attend Hogwarts, (even if the camera had much to be desired) - and this time it's even better as the proper cast do the voices. Yay!

Also, points earned for repairing things around the castle give you rewards (via a rather scary Moaning Mytle) in the form of cast interviews videos on the film and the making of the game.

Spell List

If you're anything like me when you're writing you want to try and shake off you Muggleness and include as much of JK's richness as you can, and a big part of that is spells. Everyone knows the accio and forbiddon curses, but here is a list i stumbled accross that combines the spells from the books, movies and games for your purusal.

Abrumpo- Severing Jynx. Severs things in two.
Accio- Summons an item to the wizard.
Alohomora- Unlocking doors.
Anapneo- Clears obstructed airways.
Aparecium- Makes invisible ink appear.
Aquamenti- Causes water to stream from the wand.
Arania Exume- Repels attacking spiders.
Aresto Momentum- Slows a falling object.
Auferoneum- Rips the breath from victims lungs causing them to gasp in breathlessness and nearly pass out.
Avada Kedavra- Killing Curse. Kills the person who is hit with it. Known as the strongest and worst Unforgivable Curse. Only one person has ever survived it.
Avis- Conjures birds.
Ballista- Blasting curse. Blasts an object or person back several feet or until they or it collides hard with a solid object like a wall.
Bombarda- Blasts things apart or open.
Cistem Aperio- reveals any spider.
Colloportus- Locks a door. Can only be opened by Alohomora.
Concremo- Burns up. Reduces things to ashes.
Confundo- Confuses a person causing them to believe what the caster wants then to.
Crucio- Cruciatus (Torturing) Curse. Excruciatingly painful. Known as the moderate Unforgivable Curse. Has been used to force a witch or wizard to give information.
Deletrius- Disintegrating spell.
Densaugeo- Makes victims teeth enlarge.
Diffindo- Rips objects in half.
Dissendium- Opens a secret passage to Hogsmeade.
Enervate- Wakes someone who has been knocked out by the stunning spell.
Engorgio- Enlarges an item.
Enverte Statum- Flips a person sideways in a duel. Very effective.
Episkey- Heals minor injuries.
Evanesco- Vanishes a mess.
Expecto Patronum- Patronus Charm. Conjures a Patronus. Positive force that drives away Dementors. When done to full extent takes a clearly defined shape.(I.E. A deer). Shape is unique to the wizard who conjures it.
Expedio- Releasing charm. Forces a person to release their grip or spell on another.
Expelliarmus- Disarms a wizard of his or her wand or any other object he or she may be holding.
Ferula- Bandages a wounded body part.
Finite- Stops effects of the last spell cast only.
Finite Incantatem- Stops the effects of any spells cast recently.
Flagrate- Creates a fiery line in the air which can be drawn into various shapes.
Furnunculus- Gives victim boils.
Hilaris- Cheering Charm. Causes a person to be filled with joy.
Immobulus- Freezes anything hit, in place.
Impedimenta- Impediment Jynx. Slows any mobile object down.
Imperio- Imperius Curse. Totally controls the mind. Known as the weakest of the Unforgivable Curses.
Impervius- Repels water.
Incarcerous- Binding spell
Incendio- Conjures a non-destructive fire.
Infractus- Breaking Curse. Causes a victims bone to break.
Inflectum- To force someone to bow. [nvbl]
Langlock- Glues victim's tongue to the roof of their mouth.
Legilimens- Used to enter ones mind possibly controlling them.
Levicorpus- Levitate the victim and flips them upside down. Used to embarrass. Or to be cruel.[nvbl]
Liberacorpus- Counteracts Levicorpus. Releases the victim making them fall to the ground.[nvbl]
Locomotor Mortis- Stops someone from moving their legs.
Lumos- Light Charm. Turns the wand into a flashlight. Wand tip lights up.
Lupus- Forces a werewolf to transform even without the full moon.
Medicus Consutus- Stitches up deep wounds.
Mobiliarbus- Moves trees.
Mobilicorpus- Moves a body.
Morsmordre- Conjures the Dark Mark into the sky or onto the left forearm of a person to be marked as a Death Eater.
Mortus- Causes person hit to become a Voldemort supporter.
Muffliato- Creates a buzzing in peoples ears.
Nox- Extinguishes the light from the Lumos Charm.
Obliterus- Wipes away foot prints in the snow. Also causes all signs of ones presence to vanish. Could be used to remove other marks as well.
Obliviate- Modifies ones memory.
Orchideous- Makes flowers bloom from the tip of the wand.
Pack- Packs a trunk or bag.
Periculum- Shots red warning sparks from the wand.
Peskipiksi Pesternomi- Supposed to round up Pixies.
Petrificus Totalus- Full Body Bind. Stiffens the body.
Point Me- Makes the wand act as a compass.
Portus- Turns an object into a Portkey. Transport device.
Prior Incantato- Forces target wand to emit image of last spell preformed.
Proteano- Causes objects to become linked in appearance. If one changes they all change.
Protego- Conjures an invisible barrier around the user.
Quietus- Makes voice quieter.
Reducio- Reduces the size of items.
Reducto- Blasts solid objects out of the way.
Relashio- Jet of fiery sparks or boiling water.
Reparo- Repairs items.
Restorus- Restores an Animagus to original form.
Rictusempra- Tickles victim forcing them to laugh uncontrollably.
Riddikulus- Shifts a Boggart's Shape into something funny.
Rosatus Pelotus- To turn Victims hair pink for 24 to 48 hours.
Rutilus Labiosus- To turn victims lips red for 24 to 48 hours.
Rutilus Pollex- To turn victims toenails red for 24 to 48 hours.

Rosatus Obfirmo- To put a pink bra on the victim for 24 hours.
Scourgify- Washes dirty objects. Can be used as a curse against a person.
Sectumsempra- A very powerful curse that causes the victim to receive a very deep cut. Potentially Deadly unless counteracted immediately!
Serpensortia- Conjures a snake from the wand tip.
Silencio- Used to tune out a voice or sound.
Sonorus- Magnifies a person's voice.
Specialis Revelio- Ingredients of target potion shown or enchantments of target object shown.
Soporus- Deep Sleep. Cause victim to fall into a deep sleep much like the Draught of the Living Dead.
Spiculum- Stinging Hex Causes a sharp sting and an angry red welt.
Stupefy- Knocks out whatever is hit with it.
Tarantallegra- Makes a person dance uncontrollably.
Tergeo- Clears away dry blood.
Trucido- Kills Cruelly, causes long gashes to appear along the body and a hole to be drilled into the victims throat and chest. Potentially deadly.
Vinculum- Chains down.
Vipera Evanesce- Destroys a snake conjured by the Serpensortia Charm.
Waddiwasi- Shoots objects at a high speed.
Wingardium Leviosa- Levitates an item off the ground.
