I understand that the H/Hr's have been going collectively mad over this picture from PoA. Sad but true! The article is quite amusing and well worth a read though. I laughed at young Daniel listening to the Sex Pistols and playing the air drum kit.

I saw that awhile ago. The thing I find funny is that it looks like Daniel is gropping Emma.

I am suddenly reminded why I just watch the movies and ignore what comes out of actors and directors' mouths in interviews.
Dumbldore as an aging old hippie: "Dude, Harry, little man, there's like this evil dude. Pass the bong. This evil dude who wants to kill you. Heavy, huh, man. Man, it's like this though, as John and Paul said all we are saying is like give love a chance and all. Dude, I said pass the bong, man." |

LOL GregA that is so funny. I can't watch Richard Harris in anything else now without thinking of him as Dumbledore. I watched him in the Heroes of Telemark on Sunday and I had to give up after a while as I couldn't cope with him looking young and clean shaven - talk about typecasting in reverse.
Yes I know I am miles behind with this article Arch but I have been incommunicado for ages and I am just catching up. Poor young Dan and Emma. I read that they were really embarassed at having to hug each other in PS so this must have been quite hard to do in front of the camera at their age. I have got to say it though that we forget the films are nothing like the books really and that Emma is too pretty to be Hermione. -------------------- My Yahoo Group Till Eternity

QUOTE(Cressida @ Aug 19 2003, 03:35 AM) Poor young Dan and Emma. I have got to say it though that we forget the films are nothing like the books really and that Emma is too pretty to be Hermione. I completely agree. Hermione is not a "babe in training." But, it looks like we are stuck with Emma for a while. Emma plays intelligence as arrogance and it isn't going to age well. Not good. On the other hand, I do think that Grint and Radcliffe are good choices. Grint is just goofy enough with an air of "can you imagine what I will become?" about him. He just has that look. You just know he will mature into someone who is strong, intelligent and above all, fun to be around. Radcliffe had that innocent look that will wear off through puberty. I just wish he'd been able to wear the green contacts. The green eyes thing really bugs me. I'm psyched to see the sets for Azkaban. It sounds like they've done a smashing job with them. As for the picture? Ha. Can't wait to see what puberty stuff they have in store for us. They bumped up the Ron and Hermione hints and slapped us over the head with them in CoS. They bumped up other hints as well. (thank you, JKR!) Anybody else note that Little Miss Hosepipe hasn't even been cast yet? BWAHAHAHA! I really have a problem with this. -------------------- |

QUOTE Radcliffe had that innocent look that will wear off through puberty. Oh dear I read in another recent article that poor Dan had spots and was shaving already! I agree about the green contact thing; perhaps he will try again as he gets a bit older maybe around the time he gets to plucking those eyebrows! Actually Emma is a sweet little girl but my god daughters who are HP fans and also have acting lessons were absolutely unanimous that she was over acting grossly. This from 12 and 14 year old females who as an age group are not renowned for their subtlety! Rupert acts the Ron part well although looks wise he is not quite text book but a good actor can make you believe in him. On that point I can't wait for Gary Oldman. I have seen some of the pictures from the PoA and they look a whole lot more 'natural' than the first two films. I notice they have had Draco drop the hair gel too. Actaully that must have been pretty hard to do with a 15 year old. Ha! -------------------- My Yahoo Group Till Eternity

No kidding. I've complained about the green eye thing so many times here on the forum... *sigh* It simply won't do. As for PoA, I'm hoping the children's acting continues to improve. They made leaps from SS to CoS, but another significant leap is necessary for PoA to be done justice. Fortunately they have smashing adult actors that can save the day. I know this will be a surprise coming from me, but I can't wait to see Sirius on film. -------------------- |

QUOTE Which oddly enough is what Richard Harris said he DIDN'T want to be remembered as (Dumbledore). Oh I know - it is desperately sad really that this often seems to be the way actors end up. Peter Sellers loathed Inspector Clouseau with a passion and yet again that is the role in which he is most often remembered. Portkey you are quite right that it is the wonderful cast of adult actors that will always save the day no matter how the children perform. I can't wait to see Oldman and Rickman together in the shrieking shack scenes. I am unsurprised that young Dan was very nervous. -------------------- My Yahoo Group Till Eternity

While I love Richard Harris in HP, I also loved in so many other movies. Most recently, Count of Monte Cristo...he was such a talented actor. And though I like Michael Gambon and I think he'll be excellent as Dumbledore, in my eyes, Richard Harris will always be THE Dumbledore.

Peter Sellers loathed Inspector Clouseau with a passion and yet again that is the role in which he is most often remembered. Yeah, I believe Alec Guinness said the same thing about playing Obi-Wan Kenobi. I've also seen interviews where Robbie Coltrane has similar worries about playing Hagrid. That's why I think it would have been a good idea for the kids to stop after the 3rd movie. For one, I think it'd be nice for them to be able to lead relatively normal lives through at least part of their adolescence; there are some signs in the interviews that they're often (understandably) bothered and isolated by the fame. For another, if they stop when they're 13, 14, or 15, they'll look quite different when they reach adulthood and it won't be as compelling to think of them as Harry/Hermione/Ron. But I imagine it must be fairly difficult at their age (or at any age!) to give up being famous, popular, etc. I have the feeling that Rupert will be OK no matter what--he's already taken on another role, and my impression is that he's relatively impervious to all this stuff. I fear that Dan will be stuck as Harry Potter, but he's suggested that he might not want an acting career anyway. Emma...I worry about Emma. I suppose it depends on what she looks like after she's all grown up. I hate to say that, but it's true. She's pretty now, but I'm not sure she'll still be pretty at 18 or 25 (and good lord, that would be hard on her). And I agree with bloodee about Emma and Hermione. I frankly don't think either one is aging well. I feel like sitting her down and saying "Look, the whole cockiness thing is cute at age 11, but if you play it that way as a teenager it just makes people want to slap you. Oh, and when you go for interviews and premieres, less makeup and more clothes. You're THIRTEEN, for heaven's sake. Where is your mother?" I have the feeling that they both liked the hug much more now than they would've a few years ago. Hormones, hormones. -------------------- --Sarah

Poor dark-haired kids...means you've got to start shaving at an early age But as for the eyebrows, I LIKE thick eyebrows! Heck, I like 'em on Emma too! Somehow it brings out the eyes and makes the face look stronger. But whatever, I have weird tastes. -------------------- --Sarah

Hmm... I kinda hope that Rupert at least sticks around for another movie. I always thought he was the best actor out of the three. I actually saw the movies before I read the books, and I liked Ron the best in the movies, and I think Rupert Grint does an EXCELLENT job of portraying Ron. I WANT PRISONER OF AZKABAN NOW! I WANT TO SEE IT! Grr...
One thing I've noticed... I like Hermione a lot better in the books. I don't think Emma Watson really does the part justice. And I want more of the twins, they are fantastic in the books, but you barely see them in the movies! Anyway.. Yeah, that article? I don't see why H/Hr fans would go crazy over it. And I noticed that Dan has both hands on Emma's ARM, so he's definately not groping her. -------------------- "Saying something over and over again doesn't make it true -- unless, of course, you're saying, "I'm obnoxious and repetitive."" -- kremben
