allii, that's so heartbreaking but so beautifully well written. smile.gif
You made a great contrast between Molly and Andromesa feelings in that sad moment of their lives.
Thanks so much for sharing. smile.gif

I love all these drabbles.

NinnyTreetops-just a question you said you had two other drabbles that go with this one but you didn't mention under what heading. Could you let me know, I would love to make sure I've read them all.

Jan

What I meant was that the two drabbles I've posted a page back are connected to each other, thus creating one longish drabble.
Sorry if I was hard to understand smile.gif

allii: Poor Andromeda went through a lot during DH. That was really sad, but very true to the characters, great work!

Various threads have had me thinking about the differences between the H/G and R/Hr relationships, especially post war, and this is the result - my little response to all the Ginny-and-Harry-are-engaged-3-nanoseconds-after-Voldemort-dies stories. I really struggled to keep the word count down - I hope it hasn't suffered too much for it.

Harry sat on the edge of his camp bed in the room he shared with Ron feeling very frustrated. He hadn't been expecting frustration to be the overwhelming emotion after it was all over; sure there was sadness, guilt and relief in the background, but it was frustration which dominated.

He was mature enough to admit that the frustration that his two best friends were generating had it's origins in envy. They seemed to have slipped easily from best friends to...lovers? Harry's mind shied away from that thought, although his traitorous brain catalogued the evidence of Ron and Hermione's ever increasing physical closeness. The fact was he hadn't expected it to go so smoothly for them, when for him....

For him, his relationship with the youngest Weasley was fraught with tension. Ginny remained angry, aloof and completely unresponsive to his admittedly clumsy overtures. She seemed to be holding out for full disclosure – everything about the last year, hell, the last seven. A select group had been given an overview, and it had been made clear to them that that was it.

So here he was, frustrated. He thought he might be in love with Ginny, but he was not prepared to divulge further details with anyone, love or not. She also seemed to be jealous of his closeness to Ron and Hermione, but again that was non-negotiable - they were his family and he was beyond thankful for their support. He hoped Ginny would become his family too, in time, all he had to do was explain all this to her. Sighing he flopped back onto his bed to think up a plan.

Allii:

I totally agree with your take on this! I can very much imagine this being what would actually happen, had canon showed us those first few months after the war. Nicely done!

Scorpius Malfoy knew his family wasn’t popular, but he never knew children were so cruel. Kids had avoided him since he boarded the train. So when two girls asked to join him and didn’t run away screaming once he introduced himself, Scorpius was more than thankful. Now he was rethinking that idea. Everything they said related to clothes and hair. Why couldn’t normal people join him?

“Can we sit here? Everywhere is full.”

Scorpius had been so involved in his self pity that he didn’t hear somebody enter. Two somebodys actually.

“Merlin! You’re Rose Weasley and Albus Potter! I can’t believe two of the Golden Trio’s kids want to sit with us!”

“Rosie, I’m going to go back to James’s compartment.”

“Yeah.” Rose and Albus turned to leave.

“Wait!” Scorpius shouted. He could not let them leave. He could not be left alone with the two chatterboxes again. “We won’t bother you. You can still sit here if you want.”

“Sure.” Rose smiled at him and dragged a hesitant Albus behind her. “Thank you, uh, I’m sorry, but we don’t know your name.”

“Scorpius Malfoy.”

“Brilliant.”

If possible, Rose smiled more brightly and extended her hand. Scorpius cautiously shook it, and returned Albus’s head nod.

“Nice to meet you.” Albus said.

“The pleasure is all ours,” one of the chatterboxes interrupted. “I’m Summer Watson and she’s Autumn Wilson. We’re BFFs. That means-”

“Best Friends Forever. We know.” Rose sounded completely bored and a little irritated.

“She doesn’t like when people talk down to her.” Albus muttered to Scorpius.

“Al and I are BFSTWs,” Rose clipped. “That means Best Friends Since the Womb.”

So I'm at home ill with laryngitis - I've completely lost my voice, so in the name of distraction I have another offering. I apologise in advance for the excess of sweetness! This could go with the Harry POV drabble I've posted earlier in this thread if you so wish.

“What are you thinking about? And don't say nothing – you haven't thought of nothing since you learned to talk.”

Hermione turned her head sharply to meet amused blue eyes, and pulled a face at him before returning her attention to the patterns she was tracing on pale, freckled skin. She occupied herself by slipping her fingertips below the elastic of his boxers and caressing the skin there whilst she pondered her answer.

Ron inhaled sharply as her fingers continued to move, but just as he was about to submit to her distraction and abandon conversation for....other things, she spoke softly, “I was thinking how thankful I am - that the war's over, that we survived and most of all that I'm here – with you.”

She made eye contact with him briefly, then looked back at her hand, “and I feel guilty thinking that. I mean you've lost a brother, my parents are on the other side of the world and don't remember me, Harry and Ginny seem to be fighting all the time..”

Ron looked down at her seriously as he considered his answer.

“Don't, don't think like that. We deserve this, to be happy. The rest will sort itself out – George is getting a bit better, we'll find your parents and reverse the charm, and if necessary we can knock some sense into the terrible twosome.”

Hermione smiled almost involuntarily.

“When did you grow up so much?” she asked, pulling herself up so that their noses were touching.

“When I realised I was in love with you” Ron breathed as he leaned in for a kiss.
