exartemarte - I just wanted to say that you are an incredible writer. This drabble of yours is very touching, but then when I realized it was meant as a "sequel", I looked back at your old one. That one was phenomenal. Never have I gotten so sad from so few words. Just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your work, keep writing!

spidergirl (Thankful ): That was beautiful – one of the sweetest, most romantic things I’ve read in a while. Title: A Feeling Can Change
Author: SorceressBlkLady Rating: G R/Hr or Gen: Gen Word count: 226 You know, there are many things I used to hate her for. I used to hate her for the way she'd look at him when we were supposed to be out on a date. I hated the way she'd talk about him, when all I ever wanted was for her to talk about me that way. I hated that I loved her spirit and fire with everything in me, yet I knew she felt nothing. Nothing but friendship. And I sat there mourning the loss of my heart because I was certain I would never get it back. Then I met Sarah and everything changed. I realized that she didn't steal my heart like I thought, because Sarah had it in just a few short weeks. Now as I wait next to the alter, I catch her eye as she sits next to him. All I can do is smile at them now instead of glare. My hate has turned to thankfulness because without her leaving me, I never would've met my beautiful bride. Sarah's now standing next to me, and I must look horribly odd because she leans over and whispers, "Dean, are you okay?" I nod and say "Yes, Love. I'm great." I am now like everyone else. I am now thankful for Ginny Weasley's love. Ginny Weasley's love for Harry Potter. -------------------- Nouhime: "To hell for good, if necessary."

Finally I have found the time to sit down and make some reviews.
WoollyBladders “The Things We Need to Hear” Sad and sweet and beautiful mix. And very realistic. Good take on the prompt. ronownsmysoul “Thankful for SPEW?” Fluff is always good. Very IC with Ron being hungry and his wonderings about Dobby. Just loved how he “saved” Hermione from the knitting neddles. So sweet – and see S.P.E.W is good for something even Ron can see so. Howl “Chess” That was a very interesting comparison between all the characters and the chess pieces. Very nice take on the prompt. RonHermione33 “Silent Vow” Yay a missing moment. Of course Hermione would be so thankful that Ron survived the poisoning. Of course she would berate herself for the way she treated him the last months and she would know he called out her name. Let’s hope she’ll never have to live just as friends with Ron – it has to be more. spidergirl “Thankful” Indeed Hermione has a lot to be thankful for with a Weasley as her husband. Nice with the glimpses of all the things that led them to where they are in your drabble. Sweet. MissDaisy1 “Ordinary Things” Oh yes HOME it is really as simple as that – we should all be thankful for our home. exartemarte “Letting Go” Well that work nicely as a drabble – but oh boy it was sad *wail* mench Beautiful. And indeed Ron has a lot to be thankful – let’s hope it will be like that in book 7. spikescrypt “Studious Studying” Oh great – you had me laughing out loud over this one. Loved Ginny and her “Pathetic”. That as just so funny. rhweasley4evah “Thankful for Him” that was so intense and so sad *wails – again* fairywings “Supper at The Burrow” so nice to see what each of the Weasley’s are thankful for – I think you have them spot every one of them. Nice one. exartemarte “Oops…” *giggles uncontrollable* Laughing out loud over this one “Still, let’s just be thankful you didn’t arrive five minutes later”. Just too funny. Mizaya “Thanksss, Amigo" oh great a drabble about the boa constrictor. So glad he made it home. SorceressBlkLady “A Feeling Can Change” We almost never hear about Dean – so nice that you wrote this and gave him someone else to love. And that he has come to peace with how he lost Ginny to Harry. Nice one. -------------------- My nephew calls me a Harry Potter nerd – I’m rather proud of that compliment. ~o~ "Aren't you two ever going to read Hogwarts, A History?" ~ Hermione "Percy wouldn't recognize a joke if it danced naked in front of him wearing Dobby's tea cozy." ~ Ron "I love Magic" ~ Movie GoF Harry |

Title: Thankful
Author: shiiki Rating: G Summary: An ice-cream lady at the zoo notices a skinny boy out with an unlikely family. Pairing: Gen Word Count: 271 He is such a forlorn-looking child, garbed in clothes that hang off his bony shoulders. Nothing like the two chubby boys who clearly belong with that mismatched couple. An orphan from a Home, perhaps. Your first thought is what generous people they must be, taking an orphan out to the zoo for the day. 'I want an ice-cream,' demands one of the plump, blond boys, and his mother beams at him. 'Of course, Duddy dear.' Sensing a sale, you smile brightly at her. 'Two chocolate cones,' she says, her fingers diving into her purse. Two? You glance at the skinny boy, who looks as though he’s never had an ice-cream before, and certainly doesn't expect one now. His expression is weary, as though he’s used to being skipped, and your opinion of the couple changes at once. This child is evidently their charge, and they're neglecting him shamelessly. You hand over the ice-creams, and see that the couple immediately steer the thin boy roughly away. Appalled, you call in a loud, carrying voice, 'And what would you like, dear?' The entire family stops and turns. The boy stares up at you and you see that his eyes are a brilliant emerald green, wide in surprise tinged with apprehension. 'A lemon ice lolly,' snaps the mother, her mouth thin. It is the cheapest thing on the list. Yet when you hand it over, the thin boy takes it reverently, his green eyes shining. He is more thankful for this cheap lolly than the other two are for their luxurious chocolate cones. His expression stays with you for the rest of the day. Now, time to catch up on reviewing! WoollyBladders: That had such a tense, scary, pre-battle feel ... it made me feel all shivery and frightened for them! Really, really well written! ronownsmysoul: Oh, what a sweet drabble! I like how Ron ended up next to Hermione and chose her over filling his stomach! And a neat way to work in the house-elves! Howl: Words fail me - that was such a brilliant analogy! Although it made me sad to think that the Weasleys were only pawns. Still, upon reaching the end of the chess board, then can be queens, right? I think you've brought out Ron's intelligence, bravery and determination all in this one drabble, and that's simply fantastic! RonHermione33: A wonderful Missing Moment, and a great insight into Hermione's thoughts! Thank you! spidergirl30: That was very, very sweet. I like how she remembered all those important events in her and Ron's history. Matthew is a lovely name for their baby, too! MissDaisy1: It's funny how people will be grateful for the most ordinary things when they don't have them, isn't it? Thanks for reminding us about the pleasure of the most simple things in our lives! exartemarte: The first one - Ohhhhh ... *sniff* that was very sweet though sad. Hermione came across as very stoic in the face of Ron's death. I only hope we won't really have to face something like that in the series! As for the second drabble, a really good way to get over your first! It was so amusing, Hermione walking in on her parents ... and yes, I'm embarassed for her, and grateful as well that she hadn't been five minutes later! mench: Yes, that they made it through alive is really something to give thanks for! I hope they really do make it through the end of the books! spikescrypt: Oh, Harry, you're slow to catch on, but quick to react once you do! This was very cute! rhweasley4evah: Another sad story! That's okay, heart-wrenching things are still lovely to read! I loved how Hermione was determined to keep Ron safe, even when she was gone! fairywings: Ah, that was a lovely piece! All those things each Weasley is thankful for, it's really in-character for all of them! Thank you, I really enjoyed it! Mizaya: Wow, isn't this such a coincidence, that this prompt made us think of incidences in the same chapter of the same book? SorceressBlkLady: Ah, it all came right in the end for Dean. Thanks for sharing this, I really like fics about minor characters and what become of them, and I feel kind of bad for Dean breaking up with Ginny. That's all, then! Keep up the wonderful work on the drabbles! *Edited because my apostrophes and quotation marks went wonky* This post has been edited by shiiki: Nov 25 2006, 10:31 AM -------------------- |

Hullo all,
Another great rounder from everyone for this prompt. A pleasure to read. I've decided that because a)I'm a bit lazy & b)there are so many great stories I'd be here all day & c)I'd possibly be echoing everyone elses reviews, that I'm just gonna pick my favourite from the bunch for reviewing. This isn't a reflection on everyone elses's work, because I have enjoyed them all, but this is the one that grabbed me. shiiki, your story was marvellous. The angle you wrote from, the description of Harry perfect, and the tone was very good. You also did the Dursley's reaction to an 'outsider' judging them really well. It's also nice to see how far Harry has come. It was a touching story, excellent use of the prompt, and i reckon you should be proud. Keep writing everyone, and thanks for reviews, (though I don't expect them, they are nice to get. I wish I had the time and diligence to do everyone the same courtesey). cheers James -------------------- I believe in getting into hot water; it keeps you clean.

shiiki, your drabble is wonderful!
What a fabulous take on prompt:I loved how you gave to us that glimpse of Harry´s childhood The quote about how Harry took that sweet and Dudley´s reaction to his was very well done! Loved it! shiiki: That was one of the most touching drabbles I have ever read. It is hard to put into words how amazing this drabble was. Such an emotional piece taken out of a small but significant moment in the HP series.
SorceressBlkLady: I loved this drabble! I love stories involving side characters, especially the Gryffindor house (Dean, Seamus, Pravati etc.). Great job at showing a different aspect then normally seen! Mizaya: At first I was definitely confused, but when I read it again it became so much clearer. You communicated very well in a very short (but AWESOME!) drabble! WoollyBladders: Perfect! You captured the emotion of the moment in a concise drabble. I loved the ending line! Sorry but I will have to add the rest of my reviews later! I hope to put up a drabble soon! -------------------- Ron and Hermione: Forever and Always.

Hello checkmaters! Coming here and reading everyone's drabbles just makes my day-- they're all so wonderful! Unfortunately, I have a psych test tom that I didn't study for over Thanksgiving (shocker), so I have to skimp on reviews a little this time around
MAJOR PROPS to the following drabbles: RonHermione33: I like Hermione's determination in this piece. She knows she's gotten this second chance with Ron for a reason, so nothing is going to stand in the way of their friendship. "Lavender be damned", hehe. WoollyBladders: This was such a great drabble. I am all about last lines and your last line was perfect. Such a great tie in to the prompt. MissDaisy1: This was one of my favorite drabbles ever! And only a hundred words! What a great moment between the three of them, I could just feel their exhaustion and weariness and their excitment to be going home at last. rhweasley4evah: So good! Sad, but beautiful. I thought Hermione's determination to give him the packet of papers was so touching. It really spoke to how much she loves him in that her last dying efforts were to give him the answers and to keep him safe. Miyaza: So creative! And fun to read! The snake incident is one of my favorites, but always left me a little unsatisfied because I always wondered if the snake made it back to Brazil. Now I know! Shiiki: Two drabbles based on Harry's visit to the zoo! I love it! This was such a great drabble! It was so creative especially because it was from the point of view from an entirely non-Harry Potter related character. What a great take on the prompt. How did you even come up with this idea? Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Christmas is right aroung the corner! Whose excited?? Aw, thanks so much for the nice things you all said! Seriously, everyone's drabbles are great! As it is I should be doing other stuff, so I can't review everybody's
MissDaisy1: Loved Ron's love for food! Especially liked them all repeating "home". Spidergirl: One thing to say; aw! I love pieces with R/Hr's babies. And using first person was really effective. Nice writing, spidey! Howl: The whole thing made me sad, but in a good kind of sad way, if that's possible. I've confused myself so I'll just say that I really liked it. Spikescrypt: So hilarious! I don't know why but I imagined Harry's thought process like 3...2...1...oh! I'm going to be thinking about that one for awhile. Nods to Mizaya and Shiiki for the telepathism (word?) on equally good drabbles. I don’t have enough time to review everybody’s, because I am so packed with homework, but they were all great. They made me want to attempt one, so... here it is/ my first drabble.
TITLE: AUTHOR: Snapple92 RATING: PG PARING: Ron and Hermione/General WORDS: (130 words) What I am not thankful for is bloody Krum, when he came and took Hermione to the Yule Ball. I am also not thankful that Harry, Hermione and I are going on a search to find pieces of Lord Voldemorts soul, but I would never leave Harry alone. I am thankful that Bill married Fluer and that during the reception Hermione and I got to talk. We talked about what a git I was last year with Lavender, also we talked about Hermione being with Krum. But what I am most thankful for is that Hermione and I got to smooth things out between us. Now that we are going on a hunt to find these bloody horcruxes we can hope to find them, and be thankful we have each other. -------------------- |

Author: phoenixfeather47
Rating: G R/Hr or Gen: Gen with a small nod to the four favorites Word count: 273 You see her pause for a fraction of a second in her movements before… “Fred, George, one more unnecessary remark about your sister, you will suffer the consequences!” Although she hasn’t laid out what exactly the consequences are, you listen as they chorus, “Yes, Mum.” They smile sweetly at Fleur as they say this, just before George jabs Fred in the ribs with a grin as the blonde continues to look adoringly at her new husband. Bill glances at the twin’s before commenting dryly that they need girlfriends. Heaps and heaps of food litter the Burrow’s long kitchen table. Hands are reaching, grasping, and passing so fast that you can’t help but watch the food vanish like the end of your first Hogwarts’ Welcoming Feast. Her hand wraps its way around yours as it lay next to your overflowing plate. Charlie gives you a wink from across the table and makes what Mrs. Wealsey would call another ‘unnecessary remark.’ She laughs at your embarrassment. At the head of the table, Mr. Weasley engages your second favorite female in yet another discussion about all things Muggle. For a moment you watch them in amusement that any two people could be that engaged over a ball point pen. You feel him fidgeting next to you, a habit that’s increased recently whenever aforementioned female is in the room. “Ron, Hermione’s foot is to your left if you’re wondering,” you say through a smirk. There is a collective pause as eleven pairs of eyes dart around the table before the room breaks out in roguish laughter, turning his ears instantly scarlet. Satisfied, you tuck into your meal. [in case it wasn't clear enough... Harry's thankful for the Weasley's. Also, my first try at second POV |

Thanks for everyone's kind comments on my drabble!
Anyway, phoenixfeather: You created a lovely image, with all of them at the dinner table! And the last line by Harry to Ron was priceless! Harry certainly has a lot to be thankful for, with the Weasleys! Snapple92: I'm glad we inspired you to get writing! You've summed up quite nicely the things Ron has to be thankful about. (And what he hasn't.) -------------------- |

Title: Tea and Toast
Author: pandorajones Rating: G Pairing: R/T Word count: 230 She was asleep now, on her left side, all curled up. He leant forward in his chair and pulled the covers up over her shoulder. Pausing for a moment, his hand hovering before allowing himself an indulgence: letting his fingers tips brush her cheek, touch her face. She was still rather warm, but not nearly as bad as this morning. Her fever had broken a couple of hours ago. She had even asked for something to eat. He had gone to the kitchen, ignoring Sirius’s good-natured ribbing, and made her tea and toast. If you could call it toast: anaemic, pallid, barely golden bread, but exactly the way she liked it -- just hot enough to melt the butter. He cut the toast on the diagonal deliberately, because he knew it would cause her to raise an eyebrow and give him that look. A look that would make him smile, make his stomach do back flips. He wondered, as he let his fingers slide into that brightly coloured hair of hers, how it was this girl had such an effect him. He couldn’t recall a particular incident. There was no lightning bolt. It had just happened. In the past weeks, months, it had crept steadily over him. And now ... There was nothing to be done. Whether she realised it or not, Remus knew his heart was no longer his own. -------------------- |

OK I seriously have to find a more productive way to spend my lunch hour, but this kind of popped into my head fully formed. I read the other drabbles on here, and I loved them all. Too many to review right now, but I will get to it eventually
Expect spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, as this was rushed. Hope you enjoy Title: A thump in the right direction Author: clara86 Pairings: R/Hr Rating: pg13 for adolescent boy thoughts Word Count: 275 - Took longer to cut it down to that then it did to write it He is thankful for what Harry said when he hit him on the head with his shoe, the only thing close to hand, because Ron had been dreaming again, and talking in his sleep. And it had been one of ‘those’ dreams. Those dreams that he relives in the showers, or late at night when he is alone in his room. It is late and they should be resting. Bill is getting married in the morning, they had a long day getting the Burrow ready for the celebrations, and Harry seems disgruntled at being awoken by Ron’s mutterings. It’s not my fault, Ron thinks. It would have been fine if he had not seen her come out of the shower. She was wearing only a bath towel, wrapped securely around her. But still, her hair was wet and drops of water were making their way slowly down her back, one or two sliding down the front as well, making Ron all light headed thinking about where they were headed. In his dream he didn’t trip over his own legs and bolt back to his room, bursting kidneys be Damned. He had gone to her, held her and told her how he loved her more than anything in the world. She had been in the middle of showing him how much she loved him when he was thumped awake by the shoe. “Seriously mate. Just tell her you love her. You have to be the one to take the first step. Hermione is funny like that. She loves you, so go for it” Yeah, Ron is thankful that Harry has given him the thump he needs. -------------------- "He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man.
