I love Marta's art to pieces!
I have four HP commissioned arts from her! You can find more of her DH art in the thread "Fanart for Deathly Hallows". Cheers! This post has been edited by spidergirl: Feb 25 2008, 05:25 AM -------------------- All's fair in love and war and this is a bit of both.

I feel a bit like I'm trespassing...though I've been lurking around Checkmated for close to a year, I've only recently begun to add reviews and comment on the forums. But anyway, seeing as I don't think anyone has linked to this already...
Marta's Art Dungeon has finally been updated, with more of her typically stunning stuff: Second Kiss (beautiful, one that I can imagine fitting into dozens of different R/H fics) Harry and Ginny by the Lake (very nice...but why no color?) Brotherly Embrace (not quite how I envision Sirius Black looking...but it works) Complete Faith (CRACKS ME UP...it's perfect...notice how Hermione can't take her nervous eyes off the road) |

Oh, those are all gorgeous! Second Kiss deserves its own fanfic, and the facial expressions in Complete Faith are perfect, especially on Hermione and Rose!

Well, she's done it again:
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. A picture dedicated to a "real life" Hermione and Ginny, as well the delight that a couple of teen-age girl friends (well, a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old) can have together when the boys are away and Voldemort is finally gone. 'Tis awesome, just like everything Marta does. Even though the feel of the art isn't a perfect match for my imagined year-after world (especially insofar as Hermione is concerned), I don't care; I'm just going to have to change my imagination, so this picture can be part of it. Thank you, Marta, wherever you are! P.S. Looks like Crookshanks put on some serious weight while in Australia. P.P.S. Would Ginny and Hermione really rock out to 1980s Cyndi Lauper? Which station might they be listening to? Maybe Lee has some Golden Oldies program on the WWW. If they're picking up Muggle music, I'd expect a tune circa 1998-1999, maybe something by B*Witched, or whatever. This post has been edited by Michael Ho: Aug 25 2008, 07:20 PM |

Michael Ho,
Thanks for sharing this link. Marta is really one of the best HP fanartists and her work never ceases to amazing me. I love everything Marta draws but Hermione is one of my fav portraits of that character made by a fanartist. She really captures Hermione so well, so realistic. -------------------- All's fair in love and war and this is a bit of both.

I can't stop smilling! She's just wonderful as always!
You can stay minutes after minutes looking the details! Pay attention on Ron's slippers and the texture of his socks, Hugo holding his foot with one hand and a horse with the other and so on... And her watercolor technique is the perfection on its basis. The technique of the transparences. You can see clearly one layer over other. Not to mention that to see my favorite couple happy with their kids is such a pleasure that I could watch to it all day long! Thank you for this Elfor! -------------------- ![]() "Now that I´ve done the film, when I´m reading the book, I can see Dan, Rupert and I actually doing it.It´s really funny, I have this little picture in my head." Thanks so much for the link to Martha's new art. I have always enjoyed her drawings. To me, they are the more canon-like... and I often picture her creation of the characters as I read the books.
I adore her depiction of Ron and Hermione, and you can see in this new drawing what a great job she did in aging Ron and Hermione while at the same time keeping their characteristics. And Rose and Hugo are adorable. The details make the drawing even better; I love Ron's Chudley Cannons slippers, Hermione holding the newspaper but not really reading, and the kids so entranced on the chess game. It's such a great scene. It could easily fit in sometime between the epilogue and the last chapter of Deathly Hallows. -------------------- My Checkmated Stories *** My LJ *** My Fic Journal

I was going to post this wonderful art piece, as I've seen it yesterday! You did it first and I'm so happy for that! Thanks so much for sharing! This doesnt make only my day, but all month long!!! Each detail is absolutely brilliant and they make me feel all fuzzy and warm! Is there anything better than Yes, I adore her depiction of Ron and Hermione, and you can see in this new drawing what a great job she did in aging Ron and Hermione while at the same time keeping their characteristics. It's what fascinates me more about Marta's art: she have done child Ron, young boy Ron, young man Ron, adult Ron... Even naughty Ron, which I have proudly hang on in my bedroom! QUOTE And Rose and Hugo are adorable. Those slippers killed me of joy!! And Rose's face as she looked at the chess board, the way Hugo is grabbing his foot as he has a chess piece on his other hand, the love Hermione's look holds as she was watching Ron and their children..... *is dead of hapiness* Marta's art always rock my socks! And all fanartists who put in drawings what we read and what could have happened between HP books lines! All gods bless fanartists and fanwritters! They are gold to fans' s hearts and souls! Elftor, my thanks! I usually remember to check out Marta's page every week or so, just in case something has appeared, but it's wonderful to have a forum where other people, keeping an eye out for the same things, can keep the rest of us fans up to date. Everything everyone has said about the picture is true, of course. There are other fan artists who are, perhaps, more creative or cartoony or dramatic or wickedly fun in their depictions, but no one gets the details, the colors, the expressions, the emotions as fully and persuasively alive as she does. She's a treasure, and that's all there is to it. (Favorite detail: the fact that Rose's hair is a perfect combination of Ron's and Hermione's--his color, her shape. Additional detail: is Hugo actually playing the game? It seems to me that Ron might be teaching Rose, while Hugo watches and helps her out. Oh well...) |

I love the way Marta grabs canon physical characteristics and makes them so natural that she can depict these characters at various ages and states of mind. AND, the house looks like Ron and Hermione's house might...tidy and Muggly for Hermione, and new and modern for Ron, who always longed for something less shabby and old fashioned in life.
AND, the foreshortening of Hugo's foot is very expertly done, and that is one of the hardest things to do in figure drawing! |
