Ok, I'm treading softly here so as not to piss off people. If I do, I'm sorry.
Due to something that happened last September on the Favourite Fan Fiction II thread, someone mentioned that reading about someone recommending fics that other people have previously recommended could get pretty tiresome. So a new thread was created, this one, for the purpose of recommending fics, with a rule stating that no repetition, and if possible, to attempt to recommended at least a new fic. Then, they will be added to the Master List on the first page, so everyone could just go there to see what had been recommended. It's not any of the mods who had created this rule, true. Again, if I pissed off people for being a dickhead, I profusely apologize. -------------------- I had to fold like a great moth and let go.

QUOTE Hi AmethystPhoenix, You're new here, so you don't know, but I just want to point that there is a Master List on page 1 where the rule states that no repetition of recommendations is allowed (I know this because I recommended fics that other people have already recommended which pissed off other people, and thus caused the creation of the Master List). Most of those that you're recommending have already been recommended. Just check the Master List. That being said, please note that R and NC-17 fanfic recommendations go on the Smutty Fic Recs and Slash Fic Recs in the hidden section. I am sorry for being a dickhead about this, but rules are rules. Don't let Angelfeather chase you with something pointy. Have fun! Sorry. But yes, I do know that 'The Book of Morgan Le Fey' was already recommended. I was just putting in another address, since only the CM and the ff.net addresses were here. And on Schnoogle, the fic's PG-13. Angelfeather said something about a spoiler to CC's series... I'm not sure what it is... I suppose I'll delete the part about quotes. Didn't know about 'If the Fates Allow'... it's up here? ::sigh:: Sorry about that... Edit: By the way, has the Master List been updated? Because I looked at the posts before mine, and then at the list, and I didn't find the fic on it. Yipes. What happened here? Ok, prepare for babblage.
The Master List is the first post, and on that post I asked that recommendations not be repeated. That was merely to try and keep this thread concise and to cut down on the work I have to do to update the official list for this thread. It's not an official rule; I'm not a mod, just apparently a control freak. I owled AP about a spoiler that revealed a significant plot twist with regard to pairing, and it has since been edited out. Also in that owl, I mentioned that a few of the fics listed in the post are on CM. I try and link back to the CM fic because (as a personal preference) I usually review if I read something on CM as opposed to elsewhere when something has to appeal significantly. NC-17 content always belongs in the Restricted Forum, and I've taken the stand that hard R (i.e. significant sexual content) won't be added to the main list. That doesn't mean it can't be recommended here. It's up to the poster's discretion as long as it is within the rules and guidelines of the forum. As for not being updated with every post, I honestly don't have the time to update every single time someone posts. I usually update once every few days if I'm busy. I have updated through Elucreh's post. If I've missed something, it's probably because there's no link. I definitely don't have time to go fic hunting. That was a long and arduous process I dealt with when first creating the list. Never again. This was an entirely voluntary project, and for the moment, I'm happy to do it. Repeats happen, mistakes happen, snarkiness slips out...let's keep our little corner of the fandom as happy as possible, eh? I don't know about you all, but I could use some positivity injected into the current atmosphere of the fandom... *hugs CM* /possession by Pollyanna |

QUOTE Beth: you are always possessed by Pollyanna. Yes, it is a very odd version of Pollyanna, but your innate Pollyannaness always shines through. *snicker* Thanks, Lu. *adds to her sig* Ok, for this post, I'm heartily recommending The Hat Trick by Icarus, an amazing writer that I occasionally fangirl through live journal. This was her first R/Hr, and let me tell you...I was completely blown away. The focus is not the romance, but it couldn't have been more brilliant. I'm not feeling particularly witty right now, so here's the summary: Quidditch. Corruption. Ex-Cannons coach Ron Weasley knows far too much. Two years ago he was caught between his career and his girlfriend. Now he has another hard choice to make. Everything isn't all tied up into a neat bow at the end; she sort of leaves you to draw your own conclusions, but the story is so tight and well-written that she doesn't need to be explicit about what happens next. ps The Main List is now updated. If I've missed something or a link isn't working, just let me know. This post has been edited by Angelfeather: Mar 5 2004, 03:15 PM -------------------- Gone for good. :) Bye, CM! I'd like to take a moment to recommend Since Always by our very own Beth (angelfeather). It's Harry/Ron, but it's GOOD H/R. Read, review, give her some love.
Hm. I haven't read a lot of the recent fics here at CM so that's all I have to report at the moment. -------------------- ~Tiffany

I'd like to recommend Seakay's You Raise Me Up. I just got through reading it and it's a really great read, as is her other story, Harry Potter's Fault. Very entertaining stories! Go read!!

HI!
I truly recommend Seakays' You raise me up. It's very beautifully written and I consider it a masterpiece. I don't really know how to make links, but since it's here on CM, noone should have difficulties finding it. Elais edited to say that it seems that Pebbles and I almost wrote our replies at the same time since this story hadn't been mentionned when I came on this topic. I highly recommend Wallpaper Moments by St. Margarets.
It's H/G, but well-written enough that fans of other pairings can enjoy it as well. It's rare that you find (IMO, at least) H/G fics that strike the perfect balance between fluff and angst, and this story is one of those rare examples. A lovely character study, really. Okay, wow. Someone recommended "Hermione Granger and the Order of the Phoenix" which is... excellent. As far as an alternative book story, this ranks up there with the almighty "Hermione, Queen of Witches" series by Arabella.
Anyway, she wrote a little scene from that story in Ron's POV which is FABULOUS! You have to read HG & OOTP first but please read Back to You Also, the sequel to HG & OOTP is up and I think it's just as good as the first. Take a look! -------------------- Credits. I have to agree with everyone who has noted that Kent and Vixen's dramatic head-turn is so spectacular that it basically ruins the head-turn forever. The head-turn will have to be retired. Raenen, those stories you are talking about are actually the ones I recommended right above you! Hermione Granger and the Order of the Phoenix and its sequel. Also, check out A Different Perspective also on her author page.

I don't like to the first to post on a board after me but it's been four days so I suppose it's okay...
If you are looking for some cute fluff, read The Significance of Bubble Gum by mandragora. It is too cute. It's a Neville/Luna fic although they find Ron and Hermione in some, um, "precarious positions" as the author puts it. Very funny, very fun! -------------------- Credits. I'm recommending MagnoliaMama's fic, Leave-taking, which is an outtake of Seo Gerecednis , also known as The Reckoning on FF.
Also, she has a great fic called Lesson Plans that's Hermione-centric but shows us a different angle of Goyle... don't worry they're not shipped together. -------------------- *The Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley Fic-A-Fest*
